The Aerospace Research & Engineering Systems Institute, or A.R.E.S. (Melbourne, FL; 321/961-5824), a private nonprofit corporation promoting aerospace education and development, has a berth open for a Research Assistant who will help conduct scientific research on a suborbital spaceflight.
Anyone 18 and over (no upper limit) can sign up for the position for free at www.aresinstitute.org/spacetrip. There are no educational or physical requirements, except to be in good-enough health to withstand the rigors of a spaceflight.

The deadline for submissions is Dec. 31, 2012, after which a pool of applicants will be chosen and interviewed, with the final selection made before June 30, 2013. The candidate and his or her alternates will undergo preflight training for a tentative mission in 2014.

For a donation of $10, A.R.E.S. offers a DVD of space shuttle Discovery’s final mission, a six-month subscription to SpaceflightNews.net and a one-year membership in A.R.E.S.
