Tour guides in India

My wife, Marilyn, and I took a customized 3-week trip to India arranged by Swagatam Tours (New Delhi, India; www.swagatam.com) in February 2019. A tour guide was provided in each of the various cities, and two were outstanding enough for us to recommend.

Both were friendly, thorough, well informed and entertaining and spoke English that was easy to understand. They both provided suggestions on the best angles and locations for taking pictures and took good pictures of us at the sites.

They work for various tour companies and also can be hired as private guides. They are Pawan Agarwal* (phone +91 9319967999 or email agarwalpawank68@gmail.com), based in Agra, and Aashish Jain, based in Delhi.

Pawan Agarwal provided ITN with his rates as a private guide. For one to five people for one day within Agra, he charges INR2,500 (near $35). For guiding up to five people outside of Agra, the charge is INR6,500 per day. Meals, site entry fees and gratuity are not included.
