Troldsalen

This item appears on page 66 of the April 2015 issue.

Visitors to Bergen, Norway, can enjoy daily, half-hour lunchtime concerts in Troldsalen, the chamber music hall located on the grounds of the Grieg Museum. A bus tour, departing daily from the Tourist Information office in the city center (Strandkaien 3) at 11 a.m., transports visitors to Troldhaugen (pictured above), the former home of the 19th-century composer and pianist Edvard Grieg. The ticket price of NOK250 (near $33) per adult includes the round-trip bus transfer (20 minutes each way), the concert, admittance to the museum exhibition and a guided tour through the villa. Between the villa tour and the concert, there is free time for a quick lunch (not included) in the on-site cafeteria or for exploring the garden with Grieg’s composer’s hut and his gravesite, before arriving back at the city center at 2:20 p.m. For more information, contact the Bergen Tourist Board (Slottsgaten 3, P.O.
