Wild Boars Encroaching on French Towns

As wild boar populations grow, sightings have become more frequent in France in places like Nimes and Nantes as well as in wooded regions in the Ardennes and on French Riviera beaches. There are nearly three million wild boars in France where the animals are linked to 25,000 annual road accidents. They are usually not aggressive, but drivers should be cautious, especially at dawn or dusk, and hikers should back away slowly rather than run if they spot one. They should never be fed.
