The country of Laos began offering evisas to travelers from 180 countries, including the US, Canada and the UK, on July 9. The single-entry evisa allows a visitor to stay in Laos for up to 30 days.

To apply, visit laoevisa.gov.la/index (note that many websites claim to be the official evisa website, but this website is genuine) and fill out the application. You will need a digital, passport-style photo and a scan of the bio page of your passport, which must show at least six months of validity from your planned date of arrival. The fee — $35 for US and UK citizens, $30 for citizens of other nations — must be paid by debit or credit card. Approval typically occurs within three days.
