Quake in China

At least 20 people were killed and more than 500 injured when an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale struck the northern area of Sichuan Province, in south-central China, on Aug. 8. 

The earthquake struck near the popular tourist destination pf Jiuzhaigou National Park, part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, damaging roads, hotels and some well-known nature sites such as lakes and waterfalls. At least 60,000 tourists were evacuated from the area.
