Global Entry airport enrollment

This item appears on page 4 of the September 2017 issue.

The US Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) launched on-site Global Entry Enrollment Centers at five airports on July 7: Vancouver International Airport (YVR), San Francisco International (SFO), Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS) and, in Houston, George Bush Intercontinental and (IAH) William P Hobby Airport (HOU).

Global Entry gives enrolled travelers faster entry through Customs when returning to the US from another country. It also makes them eligible for TSA Preê (Pre-check), which provides a separate line for expedited security clearance for departures.

Travelers first must apply for Global Entry online at https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/goes (a $100 fee is required for the application), providing certain personal data. If a traveler is conditionally approved, instead of making an appointment for the required in-person interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center, the traveler can instead take the interview upon arrival at one of the airports where the service is available.
