On the Caribbean island of Dominica from May 1 to Sept. 31, guests who book at least seven nights at the Rosalie Bay Resort (Rosalie, Dominica; call, toll-free in the US, 800/831-9249, www.rosaliebay.com) for the “Sea Turtle Experience” are guaranteed to see a leatherback, green or hawkbill sea turtle nesting or hatching.
More than 100 sea turtles lay eggs on the resort’s beach during nesting season. Guests are given wake-up calls to witness them coming ashore to bury eggs, which occurs at night. During hatching season, along with turtle experts, guests can help baby turtles reach the water.
The 7-night booking allows 30% off the normal rate. Nightly rates start at $250 per person, double occupancy ($175 with the “Turtle Experience” discount). If there are no sea turtles, another 15% is added to the discount.
