Low-cost Icelandic airline WOW Air (phone, in the US, 866/512-8364, www.wowair.us) will begin flying from San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) airports to Reykjavik, Iceland (KEF), in June 2016. WOW Air began flying out of Boston Logan (BOS) and Washington Dulles (IAD) in 2015.
Including taxes, one-way flights to Reykjavik start at $169 from BOS or IAD and at $229 from SFO and LAX. As with other low-cost airlines, there are extra fees, such as for seat booking ($9-$57, per legroom desired and starting city), carry-ons ($38-$67 for 15 pounds or more), checked baggage ($48-$228 by weight and number) and flight changes ($86).
Tickets are nonrefundable. WOW Air offers connections to 20 other European cities. Flights fill up fast.
