Dylan Thomas’ 100th

Marking the 100th birthday of Welsh poet Dylan Thomas (1914-1953), events celebrating his life and work are being held this year in England, Wales, Australia and the US. 

Activities are centered on the city of Swansea, southern Wales, where he was born. The Dylan Thomas Festival runs Oct. 27-Nov. 9 (the dates of his birth and death). The Dylan Thomas Center (Somerset Place, Swansea; phone +44 01792 463980) will host a free exhibit of Dylan manuscripts and photographs, Sept. 5-Dec. 24.

Also in Wales, “Dylan Thomas’s Full Moon Walk” will be held Nov. 7 at the national writing center Tyˆ Newydd (Llanystumdwy, Criccieth, Gwynedd; phone +44 01766 522 811, www.tynewydd.org). The cost of the walk is £17 (near $28.50), £29 with dinner included or £79 ($132) to stay overnight at Tyˆ Newydd.
