The US Department of State says there remains an ongoing security threat in Saudi Arabia due to the continued presence of terrorist groups, who may target shopping areas and other facilities where Westerners congregate as well as Saudi government facilities and economic/commercial targets. Visitors should select hotels or housing compounds with security measures in place that meet their needs.

US citizens are advised to keep a low profile, vary times and routes of travel and exercise caution while driving, entering or exiting vehicles.
