Delta / Virgin deal

Delta Air Lines purchased a 49% share in the British carrier Virgin Atlantic in June, allowing the two airlines to begin code-share agreements across 108 routes. Virgin will have access to a larger group of customers in the United States, and Delta will be better able to compete with United Airlines on one of the most valuable routes in the industry — New York to London — by increasing from nine fights to 23.
