Sporadic episodes of civil unrest have occurred throughout the country. Travelers should avoid large crowds; even peaceful demonstrations can become violent.
Since December 2012, Tunisian security forces have conducted raids throughout the country, even in greater Tunis, confiscating large caches of illegal arms. Several suspects were arrested and at least one was killed.
