At the Village Restaurant in Mogadishu, suicide bomb attacks killed over 15 people on Sept. 20 and three more on Nov. 3. On Nov. 7, a bomb went off in a mosque’s parking lot near Parliament.
Kidnapping, bombings, murder, banditry and other violence can occur in any region. Interclan and interfactional fighting over the years has resulted in the deaths of countless Somali nationals and the displacement of more than one million people. Pirate attacks have occurred as far as 1,000 nautical miles off the coast of Somalia.
