The US State Department warns of regular attacks in Pakistan by terrorists and their sympathizers.

Recently, there have been armed assaults on the US Consulate in Peshawar, police offices in Lahore and Karachi, the Data Darbar religious shrine in Lahore, the Baba Farid Ganj Shakar shrine in southern Punjab and a hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Suicide bomb attacks have occurred at an Islamabad university, rallies and places of worship and at marketplaces in Lahore and Peshawar.
