Iran ‘welcoming’

This item appears on page 79 of the January 2008 issue.

I read the interesting article about Jordan in the November ’07 issue. Toward the end, the author wrote, “With discerning Americans figuring out that Jordan is not Iraq, Iran, Syria or Lebanon. . .”

The implication, to me, anyway, is that the four countries mentioned are to be avoided. Well, let me tell you, in September ’07 I returned from my fourth visit to Iran in the past seven years, and Iran is its usual wonderful self.

The people are incredibly courteous and welcoming. They have always treated me, a citizen of the U.S., with respect and kindness.

If more people visited Iran, they would find out how interested many of the people there are in the USA and what a proud and cultured and fascinating country it really is.
