In Switzerland, the dedicated “Kambly Train,” sponsored by the Swiss biscuit company Kambly (phone +41 34 495 0222), originators of Goldfish® crackers, takes passengers to the town of Trubschachen to visit the Kambly Experience, a museum and showroom by the station, where visitors can try 100 types of cookies.

Tuesday through Sunday, the train leaves twice a day eastbound from Bern (9:36 a.m. & 1:36 p.m.) and three times a day westbound from Lucerne (7:57 a.m., 11:57 a.m. & 2:51 p.m.).

The city of Rouen — where Joan of Arc’s trial and execution took place almost 600 years ago — was scheduled to open a museum in her honor on March 21.

Celebrating 500 years of printing in the city, the “Leipzig imPRESSES” exhibit, March 28-Oct. 4, 2015, includes 15th-century plates from the first printer in Leipzig, prints from Martin Luther and sheet music plus working printing presses.

The Venice Biennale (www.labiennale.org/en) is an international art exhibition held every two years in Venice, Italy. The 56th will run May 9-Nov. 22, 2015, its theme, “All the World’s Futures.”

During the annual Spring Festival (New Year’s) migration in China, known as the Chunyun, hundreds of millions of people heading home for the holiday — typically, workers and students in cities returning home to their rural families — make a combined three billion-plus trips on planes, trains, buses and other modes of transport.

The rush usually begins 15 days before the date of the Chinese lunar New Year, and the last day of the return migration occurs 25 days after that. (The Chunyun occurred Feb. 4-March 15 in 2015 and will be Jan. 24-March 4 in 2016.)

Until Sept. 20, 2015, a 3,500-square-meter, 1:1 ratio, 360-degree panorama of the Battle of the Nations in Leipzig is open. The panorama is painted on the interior walls of the Leipzig Panometer, a 161-foot-tall, 187-feet-in-diameter gasometer (gas storage building) built in 1909. Visitors can view it from the ground or on levels of a 50-foot-tall platform.

In October 1813, 550,000 soldiers fought in the battle, with Russia, Prussia, Austria and Sweden against French forces led by Napoleon. 

North Korean authorities have canceled the 2015 Arirang Festival, also known as the Mass Games, which typically are held between August and October. 

Recognized by Guinness World Records as the largest event of its kind, the festival has tens of thousands of participants and features synchronized gymnastics on the field plus mosaics created with cards held by audience members in the stands.
