A moai outside the Fonck Museum, Viña del Mar, Chile
A familiar face in an unfamiliar place — February’s photo shows a moai (giant stone figure) who started life on Easter Island but today stands outside the Fonck Museum in Viña del Mar, Chile.
It’s one of only two off-island moai (the other is in London). Fifty-four readers answered correctly (we April-fooled 38 of you).
SALLY ARCHER of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, won the drawing.
Our thanks to G. Barrett Rich of Tampa, Florida, for sending us the picture.
