Small group tour of Vietnam

My husband and I would like to take a small group tour of Vietnam for about 20 to 30 days in February 2014. If possible we would also like to include Cambodia and perhaps Laos. We are interested in culture, history and cooking. We also love natural beauty and would be interested in easy hiking.

For such a lengthy tour, you might want to consider custom arrangments. I used Ann Tours (www.anntours.com) for Vietnam, which was recommended by another member of this message board and was pleased with them. The director, Tony Nong, grew up in the U.S., is responsive to emails and the company takes credit cards, so it is very easy to transfer money. In addition to Saigon/Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, a cruise on HaLong Bay (I recommend a 3 day/2 night cruise to explore some of the islands in the bay), you could also visit Sapa, which is a tribal area, and if you don't mind mountain driving, can travel overland from Sapa and cross the border into Laos at Dien Bien Phu. You can then continue to Luang Prabang, etc. There are also some islands in the south you can explore. I did this trip in reverse and used Lao Travel Service for the Laos segment. (www.laotravelservice.laopdr.com). I have used them for two different trips in Laos and have been pleased with their services.

Hi Avaben,Have you had your trip arranged? If possible, I would love to know which travel agent you worked with.Best regards,Dan

Would entirely agree with AdventureGirl!Ann Tours was excellent for arranging me a wonderful trip!I heard their story and it is such an meaningful one.

Agree with AdventureGirl, too! I found Ann Tours via web search and chose them partly for their compelling story. They were very responsive to our itinerary requests and answered our many questions very promptly compared to other Vietnam based our operators who were very inflexible. They arranged a 16-day visit to Vietnam and Siem Riep, Cambodia which featured wonderful boutique hotels, excellent tour guides who spoke excellent English and great drivers for party of 2. Would consider using them again for other Southeast destinations.

20-30 days would be enough for traveling around these country and don't hesitate to share your experience then
