Singapore rooms and guide

We will be in Singapore for 4 days in April 2012 and are interested in at least one full day tour with a private guide who offers handicap accessible transportation. Any suggestions. In addition, we are looking for hotels which offer a roll-in shower. Ideas?

We were in Singapore in 2001 and stayed in the Albert Court Hotel. We found the hotel to be perfect for us and perfectly located. My trip notes concerning the hotel are below:

Albert Court Hotel, located at the Orchard Road edge of the Indian neighborhood. We had reserved the hotel with the Internet service at www.asia-hotels.com. The room was small but quite pleasant with a nice bathroom and a large window overlooking the hawker food stalls five floors below, at the end of Albert Street, abutting Serangoon Road. ...

hotel recommended Tandori restaurant on Serangoon Road, in Little India for a late (for us) 9PM meal of tandori chicken and prawns, plus a pitcher of Tiger beer. It was ok, but nowhere near as good as the tandori that we had in London the previous December. Serangoon Road was crowded beyond belief - thousands of Indian men choking the sidewalks and one lane of the road. I've never pushed through such a crowd in my life. My wife questioned, "Where are the women?" She was right – there none – anywhere! The hotel clerk later explained that these were 39 thousand temporary imported construction workers whose families are back in their home countries. We always felt totally safe...

...We again had breakfast in the hotel, and then walked to Tekka Center in India Town to visit spice market, at the corner of Serangoon and Sungei Roads. The first floor is part herbs and spices and the rest is a wet market with fishmongers and butchers. My wife purchased a bag of Indian spices for "fish & vegetables". Upstairs were many shops - my wife purchased a small backpack, which we used extensively for the remainder of the trip to carry water, the guide book, an umbrella and of course our purchases. On the same floor is a food court (hawker center) but much nicer and cleaner than any that we previously visited. We had an early lunch of Laska - GREAT – one of the best foods that we had in Singapore. We went back to the hotel to drop off our purchases and to enjoy a beer, before we left for Sim Lim Square.

Singapore is small, safe and, in my opinion, no guide is necessary, other than for your handicap issues.
