Normandy, London and beyond

We are planning a trip to London and environs for next summer and woud like to take a side trip to Normandy. We would appreicate any input such has the best way to get to Normandy (we were thinking ferry but to what port), any good gudes you have used, hotels for an overnight stay. Also, any advice on lodging (hotels, apartments, B&B's) in London, the Cotswolds, Stonhenge, etc would be appreciated. Thank you. Gail

Our info is old in that we spent several days near Gold Beach in October 2002. I recently checked and the B&B we used appears to still be in operation.

OTOH, the guide they recommended for a day tour of the Beaches hasn't answered his emails in the past couple of years.

We used http://www.bonadresse.com/france_bed_and_breakfast.htm
which still appears to be in existence. We stayed at
lemasnormand@wanadoo.fr which I would highly recommend.

We did a self-drive tour with a one day guided tour in Normandy for the Beaches. (We spent 3 days in the area however.)

I can't suggest a ferry since we were in France to begin with!

Regarding Stonehenge, a friend from another list is going there in April and they are going to be staying at http://www.fairlawnhouse.co.uk/ I looked at the website and the place looks lovely. But I can't speak from having stayed there. We were in Stonehenge and Bath strictly on a day trip from London. We always wanted to go back to spend more time there, but haven't managed that yet.

Good luck,

Mura
