local guide recommendations for West Africa countries

❮ Back To Message Board
We will be cruising the coast of West Africa and would appreciate recommendations for local guides to provide city tours. Some of the destinations are as follows: Cotonou-Benin, Lome-Togo, Accra-Ghana, Banjul-The Gambia, Dakar-Senegal, Mindelo-Cape Verde Islands, Santa Cruz de Tenerife-Canary Islands, Madeira-Portugal, Casablanca-Morocco, Ceuta-Spanish Morocco, Seville-Spain. Thank you for any recommendations.

Last year, I arranged some touring in West Africa with two different companies. They were both easy to deal with and reliable. Either of them could probably arrange for your sightseeing in your various ports.

I arranged a 10 day trip in Senegal with Africa Travel Group and the licensed free-lance guide they assigned me was excellent:

Dear Adventuregirl,

Many thanks for the recommendations. I will email both companies and see what they might be able to arrange.

I would be interested in knowing the cruise line or tour company you are using for your cruise of West Africa. The itinerary sounds great in that it stops at so many ports. Flying in and out of these countries is next to impossible and very expensive. Thank you.

Hi LJG,

We picked Princess Cruise Line for this itinerary because of the various stops. Like you, we realized that the flights into each country would be very expensive and this seemed to be a great way to visit some of these cities. The name of the trip is the "West African Adventure" sailing between Cape Town and London. The cruise is 31 days on the Ocean Princess and this year leaves at the beginning of May. Some other companies offered similar trips but the total cost of the trip would have been much more expensive with them than with Princess.
