Azerbaijan visa

Has anyone obtained a visa for Azerbaijan recently? If so, how long did it take to process?

I just received all the necessary documentation from the tour company and submitted my visa request through a visa service. They give a time frame of 15 business days, which works out to 5 weeks since the embassy is only open 3 days a week. Based on this length of time, I will not receive my passport back in time to make my flight.

If you still have your passport in hand, have you looked into applying directly to the embassy? The embassy website gives a processing time of 10 business days for a tourist visa.Maybe if you phone the embassy, you may find it also offers an expedited service (for a higher fee, of course).

Stan, thanks for the reply. My passport was already at the visa service company. When they first received it they said that it would be back in their hands on May 16. They later changed that to May 6, which was acceptable. In any event, it didn't take the 10 business days the embassy said or the 15 business days the visa service said, it actually took less than 2 weeks from start to finish. I overnighted the paperwork to the service Thursday April 10 and I received it back on Tuesday April 22.

I applied directly to the embassy and from start to finish the process took 10 days total including mailing to and returning from the embassy. . The agent with whom I spoke at the embassy was courteous and very helpful. This was about 15 months ago, and I live in California.

I used a visa service agency in Washington, DC. The agency delivered my passport and supporting documents to the Azerbaijan Embassy on Wed., July 30, 2014 and I just received the passport back today (Wed., Aug. 13) by FedEx. It took a total of 2 weeks (this does not include the 4 days that elapsed between the time I initially mailed my passport to the visa service agency on Sat., July 26 (by 2-day Priority Mail) and when they brought it to the embassy).
