Advice for an Israel trip

Hi,

Besides planning a Spain and Andorra trip, I also schedule a journey to Israel, with my 02 friends, probably late October.

We are planning to visit the major sites, duration of 10 days. If possible, we would love to have some hiking and biking. Does it work?

Any advices from you all would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Dan

There are many places to hike, but the best resource is probably the Israeli National Park system, which you can research on line. Also the Israel trail runs the length of the country and is clearly marked. There are a variety of passes for the Parks available from the first park you visit. 10 days is OK, but plan on spending a number of days in Jerusalem. the Golan Heights is especially lovely and quite wild, but keep on eye of what is happening in Syria!

Having been there twice I would encourage you to spend some time in the West Bank and with Palestinians so you can see what is really happening in Israel. It is far from what we get in the US media. Israeli organization web sites http://www.btselem.org/ and http://www.icahd.org/ would be good places to start. Consider an ICAHD day tour. They can probably refer you to someone who offers longer tours, too, including a visit to Bethlehem and, if you like, Hebron.
