Trips to South India

I am interested in taking a tour to South India in early 2018 and wondered if anyone had a recommendation on a good tour company. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

We took a tour to South India with Overseas Adventure Travel in 2015 and added on a post-trip extension to Goa and Mumbai. I thought the trip was good and would recommend it. We have traveled with Eldertreks many times and their trips are also quite good, if you are over 50. A friend took their trip to South India and was quite pleased.

Know that in India, it is just as inexpensive to travel with a tour company as to have your own car/driver and licensed guide. I have used www.swagatam.com, based in Delhi for custom trips. They have four other offices around India. They have itineraries on their website. On one occasion, they duplicated an itinerary for a trip that had cancelled, and I had air already in place. I was able to tweek the itinerary to my interests (more time at archaeological sites, less time in big cities). Even for one person, bottom line price was less than the group trip and I had better hotels, private guides and good, comfortable and roomy vehicles.

We have used Third Eye Travel and Sita Tours for our trips to India, both are good, provide drivers and have many options to choose from.
