Am hoping someone can advise on how to make the transfer from Munich Airport to the Riessersee Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This is a link to the hotel site:

www.riessersee.com/rooms-hotel-garmisch_e.htm

Am hoping there might be a shuttle service which would be much more economical than a taxi.

Thank you for your suggestions!

By train: From Munich Hauptbahnhof, the trip to Garmisch's Post/Bahnhof takes between 1 hour 17 minutes to 1 hour 39 minutes. Direct trains leave at least once an hour ...

Thank you so much for this info. I am arriving late at night so an airport shuttle or private car transfer might be a better option for me. I will keep the train in mind as an alternative. It is good to know it is just 1 1/2 hrs. from the airport.

There is even an actual brewery in the airport (Airbrau) so you can have your first and last taste of that wonderful, fresh, no-nonsense Munich beer. You can see all the distilling pipes run down to the spigots.
A Munich beer hall food ramble was one of the best dining trips we had and would to back in a second to have that wonderful roast pork, dumplings and saurkraut/ red cabbage with that sweet wonderful Dalmyr mustard on the side. The Christmas markets of Munich and that time of year with the cold, the outdoor markets, the lights, the decorations and the surrounding Christmas market towns make this a very special place to visit in early December.
So if you have to chill out a bit at the airport to await some good transporation connections, this is a good place to spend some time.

Our absolute favorite beer hall was Weissebrau Haus on Tal Strasses off the main Marianplatz - look for their young roast pork - I had two orders of it my last day in town:

Travel Centurian -- Thank you for this information - will keep my eye out for the brewery at the airport! As for the transfer -- as luck would have it a friend contacted a relative in Germany and put me in touch with a airport transfer service based in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. They take credit cards and use Mercedes cars -- which is a good enough endorsement for me. If I were arriving earlier in the day, I could have taken the train as suggested by Geoff Rather, but I arrive at 9pm, so this service, though a bit expensive, is my best alternative.

Followup on transfer from Munich Airport to Garmisch Partenkirchen (near Oberammergau for the Passion Play)
I received a PM asking about the transfer and thought I would post the info. in case anyone else needs it.
Chris Edwards runs a taxi-limousine service serving this area. He was waiting with a sign as I exited immigration/customs and we went right to his car - a late model white stretch Mercedes with lots of room for luggage. The transfer took about 1 1/2hours and along the way he gave me a drive-by tour of some sights. He also does one and two day Castle Tours if you are ever in the Munich area.
