Allianz travel insurance

Has anyone used Allianz trip insurance? At ages 79 and 87 we find policies including pre-conditions very costly. Have been using AAA's Access America plan, but as of 2 weeks ago, they now base cost on age rather than trip cost -- huge jump in price. Ans. to Dee

I have not used Allianz Travel Insurance. However I have used Wallach & Co., Inc. out of Middleburg, VA. Their Health Care Abroad policy is good through age 84, and not based on age, but trip cost. Just their medical and evacuation coverage is not expensive.

I've been using DAN (Divers Alert Network) Travel Insurance for their medical insurance, since medicare does not cover us out of the country. You can check price of different plans on-line (https://www.diversalertnetwork.org/trip/). Luckily I've never had a claim. You can list any age and the quote will take that into consideration.

I read that some Medi Gap policies cover medical care in foreign countries
with a $250. deductible. If this is the case the most important insurance
would probably Evacuation.

Access America Insurance changed their name to Allianz at the beginning of 2012.
I am a travel consultant and have used them since 1996 for my self and clients - they are great!

Two sites that I always check are Insure My Trip and Squaremouth. They both have phone numbers to call so you can discuss your particular needs.

My luggage was lost for 10 days. Purchased new clothes..all was covered. I was impressed with their effiencyin handling my claim. I was reimbursed shortly after returning home. Highly recommend this company.  next trip.
