Prague museum to reopen

This item appears on page 56 of the September 2018 issue.

Closed for repairs and reconstruction since July 2011, the main building of Prague's National Museum (Václavské námeˇstí 68, Praha) is scheduled to partially reopen on Oct. 28, 2018, which marks two anniversaries: 200 years since the museum first opened (in another building) and the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia.

Despite its having been completed in 1885, this construction marked the first ever significant repairs to the building, even after it suffered damage during WWII and during the Prague Spring revolt against the Soviet Union in 1968.

Hours and entry fees will be set closer to reopening. Visit www.nm.cz.
