In the Rakhine State of Myanmar, Rohingya militants attacked 30 police posts with bombs and guns on Aug. 25. In the attacks, at least 100 people were killed, including 12 security officers.

The Rohingya are a Muslim ethnic group that has accused the Buddhist Myanmar government of committing human rights abuses against them. The UN is currently investigating reports of rape, torture and murder against Rohingya people by the Myanmar army. More than 40,000 Rohingya refugees have tried to cross into Bangladesh, but many have been turned back by border guards.
