Sheepwalking in Wales

This item appears on page 5 of the February 2017 issue.

Visitors to Wales can hike with a wooly friend on the “Sheep Trekking” day trip in Brecon Beacons National Park offered by Good Day Out (Bishop House, 10 Wheat St., Brecon, Wales, LD3 7DG, U.K.; phone +44 1874 749092)

Trekkers start their day by picking out one of the trained Jacob sheep as a companion, each outfitted with its own harness, and then hike up Black Mountain for views of Pen y Fan.

Sheep Treks each cost £35 (near $44), last roughly two hours and are available most Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays (with some blackout dates due to lambing), April 1-Aug. 31. To reserve a sheep, visit http://www.gooddayout.co.uk/experiences/sheep-trekking-brecon-beacons-0 .

Good Day Out arranges outdoor activities in the Brecon area, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity, specifically, to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution.
