Starting service in May 2017, the luxury train Belmond Andean Explorer will travel between the Peruvian cities of Cusco and Arequipa, making frequent stops on three itineraries: 3-day, 2-night Cusco-Arequipa; 2-day, 2-night Arequipa-Cusco, and one-day, one-night Cusco-Puno. The 2-night journeys take passengers across the high plains of the Andes, stopping by Lake Titicaca and Colca Canyon for local touring opportunities.

The train has a lounge car, an observation car and two dining cars, with menus built by chefs at the 5-star Belmond Hotel Monasterio in Cusco. Double, twin and bunk-bed cabins each have a bathroom and shower en suite.

Example — for the 3-day, 2-night trip, a cabin runs $1,440 to $2,065 per person, double occupancy.
