Attacks in Sinai

In northern Sinai, Egypt, in mid-October, militants attacked a military checkpoint in the town of Hasna, killing 12 officers and injuring six others. During the attack, 15 militants were killed. Egyptian officials blamed Daesh for the attack.


On Oct. 23, air strikes by the Egyptian Air Force against Daesh targets in Sinai, near the border with Gaza, are believed to have killed 70 militants.
