Pam Zent shared her problem regarding luggage-zipper repairs not being covered by Delta Air Lines (March ’14, pg. 26) and queried if there are airlines that accept the responsibility of repairing zippers they’ve damaged.

My husband and I flew round trip on American Airlines from Orlando to Montreal, Canada, via Miami in August 2012. On the outgoing flight, the zipper on our TourTrek (Austin, TX; 800/813-6897) Stratus Golf Travel Cover was broken.

We reported the damage to AA Baggage Service in Montreal, where staff documented it.

AA Baggage Service processed the claim, repaired the zipper and, after we had returned home, delivered the repaired bag to us.

Our experience with American Airlines was very positive.
