Avoid South Sudan

The US Department of State warns against all travel to the Republic of South Sudan. A cease-fire agreement negotiated by Ethiopia between the Dinka-led government and Nuer rebels has not been honored by either side, and now the Dinka and Nuer, the two main ethnic groups living in South Sudan, have embarked on a series of revenge killings. Rebels hold some towns, and there have been attacks on hospitals and UN compounds. On Jan. 3, the US government ordered most of its remaining personnel to depart the country.
