Richard III Visitor Centre

This item appears on page 4 of the October 2013 issue.

In Leicester’s city center, just steps away from where the king’s bones were found buried in a car park in August 2012, a new Richard III Visitor Centre (St. Martins Place) will open in March 2014 with the exhibition “Richard III: Dynasty, Death & Discovery.”  Richard (1452-1485) was the last king of the House of York.

The larger space will expand the current exhibition, “Richard III: Leicester’s Search for a King,” located a short hop away in The Guildhall (Guildhall Lane, Leicester, LE1 SFQ; phone 0116 253 2569), near the Cathedral. The Guildhall is open daily 11-4:30. Admission, free. Items presently on display include CT scans of the bones, a facial reconstruction, and architectural remains from Greyfriars Church.
