“Romania Myths & Magic” tour with Original World

I took the one-day “Romania Myths & Magic” tour of Bucharest with Original World (Mill Valley, CA; 888/367-6147, www.originalworld.com), June 10-21, 2008.

The price per person, not including airfare, was adjusted to approximately $2,009 after increases due to the euro. It included all breakfasts and some special dinners and lunches.

What made this such a fabulous tour was the tour leader, Cristian Iancu. He should be listed as a Romanian National Treasure. I have been on many, many tours and have never been so impressed by a tour leader.

He was young but extremely knowledgeable, personable and completely informed on his country's history, religions and customs. He also had a wonderful sense of humor. We were very impressed by the fact that he was so knowledgeable about US politics and culture, to the extent of “getting” Seinfeld.

I cannot recommend this young man enough. He was also a very safe and careful driver.
