Peru with Lima Tours

What a fantastic and memorable vacation we enjoyed in Peru in May ’07! Thanks to Lima Tours (Belén 1040, Lima 1, Perú; phone [51-1] 619-6900, fax 619-6921, e-mail prs@limatours.com.pe or visit www.limatours.com.pe), our visit to their country was both informative and rewarding — one of our best tours ever.

What really made our 8-night stay in Lima, Cusco and Machu Picchu so special were the personal guides who were assigned to us throughout our stay and the excellent itinerary proposed by Suzanne at Lima Tours. Every aspect of the tour was well planned, from our being met upon our arrival in the Lima airport to being greeted each morning at our hotel.

We quickly realized that having a personally planned itinerary and a private guide is the best way to visit Peru’s many historic sites and ruins. Not only did we learn about the history and culture of each region, we experienced unique stops never included in the “typical” packaged tours.

Our group of four travelers learned all about Machu Picchu from a guide who was very knowledgeable about all aspects of Peru and spoke excellent English.

The cost for this tour was $2,300 per person, which is comparable to that of many popular tour operators. Airfare cost another $938 per person round trip from Rochester, New York, to Lima, Peru, with return from Guayaquil (after a week-long Galápagos Islands cruise) plus $308 per person round trip from Lima to Guayaquil, Ecuador.

For the planning of the customized itinerary; the hotel accommodations we had; the personal guides; the variety of sites and activities; our included meals, and the dollar value, my grades for Lima Tours are straight “A’s.”
