Driver around Rome

This item appears on page 76 of the January 2008 issue.

My husband and I would like to let ITN readers know about a taxi/limo service in the Rome area that we can recommend. Andrea Amore Taxi & Limousines (phone [39] 338 88 88 550 or 328 33 32 022, fax 06 941 17 24, www.taxicastelliromani.com) is located in Frascati, Italy.

Mr. Amore will do tours of Rome and the surrounding areas as well as long-distance trips. We just used him to transport three of us from our hotel in Frascati to Fiumicino Airport on Oct. 23, 2007.

My husband and I had an early-morning flight, so we requested a taxi for 6 a.m.; the hotel arranged this for us. Mr. Amore was there at 5:45, which impressed us, as our hotel was in a rather remote location.

He had a very comfortable Mercedes, spoke English well, helped us with our luggage, called ahead to the airport to verify our departure terminal, and was polite and a careful driver. Since it was an early hour, we made excellent time on the ring road.

The cost for this service was €80 (near $113).

We would not hesitate in calling on him for service, as we’re sure that he will go out of his way to provide a person with whatever they want.
