Greece with OPA Tours Greece

Tom Wolfe may have said, “You can’t go home again,” but regarding a return visit to Greece, we say you can — with OPA Tours Greece (137 Genoa St., Ste. B, Arcadia, CA 91006; 800/872-7155 or www.greecetravel.com/opa). Indeed, if you go once, you’ll want to repeat the pleasures of traveling with OPA’s dynamic duo who goes only to Greece.

Our first experience was in May 1994. The classical tour was perfectly managed by Joyce Helfand, art educator, and guided by Nanda Kontopoulos, archaeologist. Together, they created a memorable travel experience — small group (limit, 20), comfortable hotels, varied delicious meals and, especially, the superb educational component provided by enthusiastic and knowledgeable Ms. Kontopoulos.

When we decided to return to Greece, we did not hesitate to contact OPA and signed on for the May 10-23, ’05, tour (not including airfare or lunches, $4,140 per person). Nor were we disappointed with this second visit to Athens and Delphi plus an introduction to Thessaloniki, Samothrace and unusual sites in between.

OPA hosts only two trips per year, one in spring and one in fall. We recommend that you run, not walk, to sign up! You will be captivated by the history and beauty of Greece as brought to you by the two women who could not be more passionate about this fascinating country.
