This month’s winner is GORDON W. DRAPER of Livonia, Michigan:

I led student tours to Europe for five summers. We traveled by Eurailpass and went from the train stations to our hotels by taxi.

At this one stop, we were staying in a hotel new to the company and no one knew exactly where it was located. Upon arrival, I rounded up five cabs, and after getting the 25 people on the tour and all of their luggage loaded, I gave the first driver the address of the hotel.

He gave me a funny look, got in, made a U-turn and stopped. The hotel was across the street from the station.

It took me a while to live that one down.
