This month’s winner is JULIE LOCHRIDGE of Vero Beach, FL:

On a visit to Rome my husband and I made several years ago, we were quite jet lagged when we arrived, so after an early dinner we went to bed in our hotel room. I was so tired that later I did not hear the knocking on our door, but a phone call awakened me and I was told, “Madam is wanted down at the front desk.” I looked over and saw that my husband’s bed was empty. I could not imagine what had happened.

When I got to the lobby, there was my husband with a towel wrapped around his middle and nothing else on. Apparently, he had gotten up during the night and thought that the door in the room was the bathroom, but it turned out to be the door to the hallway. He had closed it and locked himself out.

Fortunately, the door next to our room housed the hotel linens, so he was able to wrap himself up and go to the lobby for assistance. He thought it was amusing, but the hotel clerk, in his fine uniform, made it clear that this was something that is just not done.
