Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it will keep the SuperStar Leo in its fleet, rename it “Norwegian Spirit” and operate it in the Alaska and Caribbean areas. Its sister line, Star Cruises, will operate NCL’s 15-year-old Norwegian Sea. Star Cruises’ plan is to send NCL’s mid-size, middle-age ships to Star’s fleet in Asia.

When the “Pride of America” and two more ships are completed, NCL will have seven new ships. By 2010, NCL plans to divest itself of all the ships that it owned prior to the Star takeover, except for the Norwegian Sky, which will sail as the “Pride of Aloha” in Hawaii.

The Norway will not return to the NCL fleet. Severely damaged in a boiler explosion in May 2003?, she has been berthed at the Lloyd Werft yard in Germany and could go to Asia or be sold for use as a floating hotel.
