St Martin

Does anyone have a recommendation for a hotel in St. Martin? We are mainly interested in the French side. This is one night pre-cruise in December. The ship is small and leaves out of French St. Martin, not St. Maarten. Also are taxis (airport to hotel) reasonable, or should I arrange other transportation? Thanks.
