I want to travel to these destinations (one trip). Interested in remote tribes and culture over safari

Wondering whether I can travel as individual/independent (with guides and drivers); or is a tour company required? Please offer suggestions and contacts

I did a google search and found this: http://www.africanbudgetsafaris.com/overland-camping-tours/south-africa-..., if you go to "Resources" above on this page, click on "Tourism Offices" and there is a list of countries thatcontain contact information on tourism and offices.

The parts of Africa that interest you are not difficult for pre-arranged independent travel. We've booked similar tours through Africa Adventure Company The Africa Adventure Company. They arranged our overseas flights, all local transportation and transfers, sightseeing, etc. They deal with a wide variety of accommodations in all price ranges, although you can expect to pay a surcharge for the work that they do. It was worth it to us, and all of the arrangements worked flawlessly. That said, our main focus was on wildlife. It would be worth checking out the web site and, perhaps, calling with your specific questions about tribes.

thanks I was hoping for personal references, but I do appreciate your comments

Thanks I wil give them a look!

I suggest that you also contact Bert at Fish Eagle Safaris, an ITN advertiser. They are affiliated with Wilderness Safaris, which offers to-notch visits to the countries on your list. I travelled with them to Botswana and Malawi, and never had better experiences. They also go to Namibia, but my trip there was with Adventures Abroad.

Thanks, Stan. I am interested in a group tour to Botswana and Namibia for Fall 2015 and have just contacted Bert by phone. He will be sending me a brochure. The link "Request a Free Brochure" on their website is not working.

Leora at Rothschild Safaris arranged a private tour for my husband and me to all these places. We saw the Himba tribe in Namibia, another tribe in the Okvanga Delta, and a third near the falls in Zambia. Leora is excellent at meeting one's interests, and she's very knowledgeable being from South Africa originally. Rothchild advertises in ITN. We stayed at all Wilderness properties for the most part.Hope this is helpful.Janet Weigel, San Diego

In 2014, we went with Overseas Adventure Travel to Botswanna, Zimbabwe, Zaire and South Africa (Cape Town-extension). We had about 11 people on our trip, which was an ideal number. OAT had excellent guides and everything about the trip was done very well. Accomodations, food, transport, safaris, and our extension to Cape Town should not be missed. My suggestion is to not load a trip with too many destinations. You tend to flit by so fast that you do not remember or enjoy where you are. Incidentally, their prices are very good. We did the helicopter ride over Victoria Falls as an optional expense and it was well worth the money. Because we enjoyed this trip so much, we are going to Namibia with them in 2015. Compare prices, length of trip and number of nights in each place. Must have at least two nights each location or you are constantly packing and unpacking. An extra plus, laundry at the safari lodges is free. Take less clothes. Happy travels....
