Several friends (4 or 5) will be spending a week in Berlin in mid-March, 2013 to see the special Egyptian exhibit at the Neues Museum. Does anyone have any suggestions of a hotel near this Museum and with easy access to public transportation? Also, any other special sights that we should not miss?? Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you are willing to share.

The Miniloft is a terrific place. Near the main railroad station in an interesting neighborhood. You can walk to many sights or take the S-Bahn or U-Bahn to others.
Best Western Hotel am Spittelmarkt
The Best Western Hotel am Spittelmarkt is a comfortable hotel within walking distance of the museums on Museum Island, and also very near the Spittelmarkt U-bahn stop. I also recommend a visit to the wonderful Dahlem Museums and Kopenick Palace, as well as a boat ride on the Spree River. Also tickets to a Berlin Philharmonic concert - very easy to purchase in advance on their web site.
