Looking for the most economical way to get from Rome to Civitavecchia Port. Also would like recommendations for a hotel in Rome for the night before the cruise

As to hotel, if you decide to take the train from the main train station in Rome (Termini), it would be best to find a hotel near the station. This a a HUGE station, so I'd suggest you familiarize yourself with it ahead of time. That area is also a good touring base.
