We were very grateful for the recognition our ecology-tours park received with the reader’s letter “Aerial tram, Costa Rica” (Sept. ’15, pg. 14), and we have the following comments to add.

Rainforest Adventures Costa Rica Atlantic (866/759-8726, www.rainforestadventure.com) is not located in Guapiles. Guapiles is the city closest to the park but is about 20 to 25 minutes away.

Located on Route 32, 28½ miles northeast of San José, the park is a private reserve that borders Braulio Carrillo National Park.

Visitors are given an introduction to the rainforest before boarding the aerial tram. The tram travels 1.6 miles (not 3 miles), round trip, passing through each level of the canopy in both directions. The vast majority of plants on the trees along the aerial tram route are epiphytes.

We don’t have a “Visitor Center sloth.” The sloth mentioned by the reader just happened to be at the center. There are over 130 species of mammals and 500 species of birds living in the neighboring national park, and sometimes they feel like coming over to say “Hi.”

Ours is the only theme park in Costa Rica with a Level 5 (highest level) certification of tourism sustainability from the Ministry of Tourism. Also, our park was named by National Geographic magazine as one of the Top Ten Adventure destinations in the world in 2015.
