From Tegucigalpa, HONDURAS, Jan. 15, ’06. . .

Linda Vista Hotel (Calle Las Acacias #1438, Palmira, Tegucigalpa), Jan. 1-15. Price of $50 per night includes Continental breakfast.

This pleasant and very safe B&B is a 10-minute walk from downtown Tegucigalpa. It is also within easy walking distance of a variety of restaurants for evening meals.

The owners, Koritza and Florentina, are most pleasant and assisted us in planning daily expeditions, phoning for taxis, etc. Koritza’s brother, Armando, speaks English quite well.

From Cornwall, U.K., Dec. 29, ’05. . .

Talland Bay Hotel (Porthallow, Cornwall) — reached by a narrow lane from an “A” highway. On two acres of lovely grounds, this boutique hotel is in a manor house listed in the 11th-century Domesday Book.

Our superior-deluxe room had a view of the ocean, excellent décor and fine furnishings — two beds, a large bath and very comfortable appointments. A full English breakfast and afternoon tea were included in the rate, £160 (near $278) for two people.

The hotel has a bar and an excellent restaurant featuring locally caught seafood. Nice swimming pool. Very accommodating staff.

We were there Dec. 27-29 and will return!

On MOROCCO, November ’05

Oussaden Tours’ (New York, NY; 800/206-5049) “Morocco In-Depth” tour was excellent. The food and all accommodations were beyond our expectations. Our driver, Adil, took care of all of our needs and showed us a truly beautiful country. We flew (economy) on Royal Air Maroc and had excellent service coming and going.

Overall, this was an unforgettable journey.

On TURKEY. . .

ITN apologizes for printing incorrect information regarding the guide in Turkey recommended by Homer Somers of Wallingford, VT (Feb. ’06, pg. 114).

The guide whom Mr. Somers highly recommended is Miss Nigar Aksu (Tutuncu Mehmet Efendi Cad., No. 96/10 Goztepe, Istanbul, Turkey; mobile phone 90+0533 310 7991 or e-mail nigaraksu@ttnet.net.tr or nigaraksu@gmail.com).

Miss Aksu told ITN, “My guiding service costs $150 per day, which does not include a car or a driver but which does include my transportation, my meals and my taxes. If the travelers would like to do a tour with a van and driver, I can help them to find an air-conditioned van with a driver and also tailor their itinerary.

“It would be a pleasure to serve as a guide for travelers who come to Istanbul. Besides that, I could help them with any kinds of questions they have in terms of suggested itineraries and information for the places to visit, etc.”
