Peru declared a state of emergency after heavy rains caused a massive mudslide that tore through the Peruvian town of Chosica on March 25, killing at least seven people and destroying 65 homes. The mudslide, nearly 30 miles northeast of Lima, also blocked the nation’s main east-west highway.
